Back From Persia
Mexbro’ Man Will Return to Oilfields “If and When”
Mr. S. Sharratt, of 59, Ingleborough Drive, Sprotborough, and formerly of Mexborough and Swinton, has returned from Persia, where he has been employed by the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company for about two years.
His wife, Ruth, formerly Miss Buxton, of Roman Terrace, Mex-borough, and 16-years-old daughter, Margaret, have also returned with him.
Mr. Sharratt is eldest son of Mrs. E. Downing and the late Mr. D. Sharratt, of “Bungalow,” 38, Harlington Road, Mexborough. He was formerly a Mexboro’ joiner and served six years in the war with the Royal Engineers, going through the Dunkirk evacuation.
His return to Sprotborough — he is now on holiday in Scarboro – is a temporary measure, and he will return to Persia If and when the trouble there is cleared up.
Mr, Sharratt went out as supervisor on the company’s building estates, was promoted area supervisor, and before he left was in charge of Works and Buildings.
