Appointment.
Mr. W.P. Marsdin’s successor as manager of the Mexborough Branch of the Yorkshire Penny Bank took over his new duties yesterday.
He is Mr. Geoffrey Ryder Davies, who has been Chief Cashier at the Barnsley Branch. Mr. Davies joined the service of the Bank in May, 1917, at the Holbeck Lane (Leeds) Branch, and has since been engaged in five different branches in the Leeds area.
He came to South Yorkshire in November, 1931, when he was transferred to the Barnsley branch, and in May, 1935, he was appointed to assist Mr. M. S. Kerslake, the manager of that branch.
Mr. Davies is a keen sportsman. His favourite recreation is bowls, and he has been captain of the Locke Park Club at Barnsley.
In September, 1928, he married Miss Kathleen Holmes, daughter of Mr. Fred Holmes, a Police-Superintendent of Leeds, and they have two sons.
