An Old Photograph of High Street

Familiar sight in an old setting is reproduced here from an old photo kindly loaned by Mrs. J. Smith, of 31, Schofield Street, Mexborough.

A good length of High Street is shown, with the “Times” entrance clearly visible on the left. The old barber’s pole can be seen on the right, and the buteber’s shop is in the to have been Swallow’s.

Date of the photo is unknown, but the print was passed on to Mrs.. Smith’s husband by his uncle, Mr. Charles, of 62, Schofield Street, Mexborough. It was originally the property of Mr. Thomas Henry Smith, grandfather of Mrs. Smith’s husband.
