Missing At Arnhem

Staff-Sgt. Glider Pilot John William Sarjantson (21) has been reported missing following the airborne landing at Arnhem, according to news received by his wife, who, with her two baby daughters, lives with her husband’s parents Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Sarjantson, 14, Benita Avenue, Mexborough.

Staff-Sergt. Sarjantson has taken part in the airborne landings on the south coast of France and returned to this country for the Arnhem operation.

Previously employed at Messrs. Baker and Bessemer’s works at Kilnhurst, he was a member of the Home Guard at Mexborough, joining the Forces four years ago and the airborne forces two years ago.
