Uncle and Nephew

A Mexborough man and his Upton nephew, both the same age, 27, are in uniform.

Leading Aircraftman Thomas Massey, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Massey, of Prospect Vale. Park Road. Mexborough, has been in the R.A.F. since July, 1940.

When he joined up he was living at Essex and working at Purfleet. His father will be remembered by Mexborough’s older generation as goalkeeper for Sheffield Wednesday when they won the English Cup In 1896 by defeating Wolverhampton at the Crystal Palace.
