Flight Lieutenant Reginald Jeptha Dennis, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Dennis, of Mexborough, has been mentioned in dispatches.

He is serving with the R.A.F. Education Service, in which he obtained a commission about a year ago after joining the R.A.F. in 1940 as an aircraftman.  An old boy of Mexborough Secondary School, he attended the college of St. Mark and St. John, London, and studied at Sheffield University, gaining the degree of B.Sc. Before the war he was biology master at Thorne Modern School.

His wife, who lives at Dunsville, is a member of the staff of the Stainforth schools.  While in Mexborough, Flt. Lt. Dennis was associated with Mexborough Amateur Dramatic Society.

His younger brother A/c2 (c) Stanley Dennis (18), volunteered for air crew duties as a navigator before his eighteenth birthday, joining up seven weeks ago.  He also attended Mexborough Secondary School, later assisting in his father’s pork butcher’s shop in High Street.  He has been a member of the A.T.C. at Mexborough for two years.
