A Mexboro’ Footpath.
Twenty Mexborough residents, including several ladies, were summoned, at Doncaster, Saturday, for damaging clover, at Mexborough, on Sunday, June 1st.
It was alleged they trampled down clover by going across field instead of using the footpath which ran along the hedge.
Defendants’ stated that the clover had previously been trodden down so as to make a regular footpath.
A young man said it had been a footpath for least three years; one could not tell which was footpath and which was cart road.
Those defendants who appeared must pay damage and costs amounting to 6s. 6d. each, and those who did not appear must pay 11s. 6d. each.
