A Mexboro’ Departure for North Wales

Mr. and Mrs. Walter, Gledhill, of “Hazlewood, 41,Park Road, Mexborough, are leaving Mexborough for North Wales shortly, Mr. Gledhill retired as headmaster of Conisbrough Modern School four years ago.

On Monday their house was sold by auction for £2.000.

Mr. and Mrs. Gledhill are to go to Llaniestyn as soon as can be arranged, but will not be leaving Mexborough permanently. They have bought a house in Romwood Avenue, Swinton, for their daughters, Misses Mary and Jean Gledhill, and hope to spend some of their winters there.

Mr. and Mrs. Gledhill came to Mexborough in 1925 from Penistone, where Mr. Gledhill had 16 years as headmaster. The next four years Mr. Gledhill spent as head of Doncaster Road School, Mexborough and from there he went to Conisbrough, where he stayed for a further 18 years.

Mr, Gledhill was first chairman of Mexborough Youth Centre, later became secretary and has been for a long timeYouth Leader. Mrs. Charlotte Gledhill is a member of the women’s committee at the Youth Centre.

They have three daughters. One, Mrs. Dorothy is soon returning to her home in Brazil, after a holiday in England. There are two sons, Mr Philip Gledhill, a headmaster at Saddleworth, near Oldham, and Mr Geoffrey Gledhill, an engineer in Kent.
