An All-Round Sport.

Mr. Arthur Mackford who refereed the Montagu Cup final so well on Friday is an all-round Sportsman. He is a clever and efficient referee and is one of the local men who are coming into prominence in this respect.

He is also a keen cricketer, having played with Swinton, and he is now with Mexboro’. He was with Swinton for three years during which he won the bowling aver­age each year. He has been with the Mexboro’ club for two sea­sons and will play with them this sea­son. He has won the bowling averages also at Mexboro for the past two years. Whilst with Swinton, in one match he took 9 wickets for 12 runs. Five of the wickets were taken in one over.

He has also played a good deal of junior football in the district.

He scored 40 goals in his first season with the Swinton P.M. some years ago.
He has had considerable experience as a referee in the Rawmarsh Minor League.
