Mr J Verdi Popple of Mexborough, is to broadcast from Sheffield on February 4 at 4:15 PM, a scene from “Othello” together with several Dickensian sketches.

Mr Popple, who is one of the best amateur Shakespearean actors in the district, appears Iago in the Mexborough amateur dramatic societies “Othello,” and is Shylock in the same Society’s production of “the Merchant of Venice” was one of the finest amateur performances we have seen.

He has also appeared as Ford in the Mexborough societies “Merry Wives of Windsor.”
