New Councillors – Mr Albert C Rawson

Mr Albert C. Rawson is a native of Mexborough, and was educated at garden street schools.

He is at present employed at Denaby Main colliery offices and has taken an active interest in town affairs for several years.

A member of the old folks treat committee he was secretary to the Mexborough branch of the Conservative Association for five years, and has served for the same period on the advisory committee at the local Conservative Association, and the Yorkshire provincials Council of the Conservative Association.

He is a section leader of the Mexborough section at the special Constabulary and secretary of the social club.

He saw four years service in the Royal Naval division during the great War, being invalided home with gunshot wounds sustained in the gallipoli campaign.

Before joining the staff of Amalgamated Denaby collieries, he was at Manvers Main and Hoyland Silkstone collieries.
