Instructor of the Class

Mr. Tom Parker, who resides at 48, York Street, Mexborough, has been instructor of the class for eight years. Before that he was instructor of the Mexborough Ambulance Class at the Main Street club, and of several railwaymen’s classes. He took his first year certificate in 1909 at Wath. In the following three years he passed examinations at Wath, Mexborough and Swinton. He has been a member of the Manvers Main team that won every trophy in the district, including the Wood Shield.

With Mr J. Elmer, Mr. Parker has been instructor of that team, also for a number of years during which they thave won the Wood, Allerton Bywater, Silverwood, and Castleford Shield, the Maltby Show Cup, Moreton Cup, Bolsover Cup, and with the junior team, the Lane-Fox. Shield and the Montagu Cup.

Mr. Parker has the distinction of being one of three ambulance men in this district who are the holders of medals won at the Mexborough and Swinton Agricultural Show in July, 1924, for the highest individual score in ambulance work. He has also numerous other trophies of his skill. During 1923, the Manvers Main team won 14 out of 15 trophies.

During the eight years that Mr. Parker has been instructor of the class 207 pupils have passed examinations. Fie has not had a single failure.
