Brook Browbeats Barnsley.

Mexboro’ had lost 4 wickets for 40 runs at Shaw Lane on Tuesday: then Eric Brook (picture) arrived. In 10 Minutes he completed 50; inside half an hour he was out—for 84!

He hit 29 off one over: 3 sixes, 2 fours and a single. His 84 was mainly made up by 6 sixes and 7 fours. That innings put paid to Barnsley in quick time, just when they were threatening to get command of the game. Mexboro’ went on to complete a pretty safe total and Barnsley made no attempt to force the race in the time left them. They were 34 behind with 3 wickets to fall at the end.

Macdonald – Browne took 9 Mexboro’ wickets for 72 runs—but for Brook he would have had startling figures probably.
