Mexboro’ Chairman Disappointed
Coun. A. C. Rowson, who has been chairman of Mexborough Food Control Committee told last night’s meeting of the committee that it was with regret and disappointment that he was relinquishing his position on the committee of which he had been a member since its formation.
“I would like to congratulate the people of Mexborough on the way they have put up and are putting up with rationing,” he said. All honour was due to the tradesmen too, for the good work they had done.
Coun. Rowson also thanked the committee for what they had done while he had been chairman. “You have been big enough to do what you set out to do,” he told members.
Mr. Rowson thought it was a great day when Mr. R. Dunn was appointed Food Executive Officer at Mexborough.
Mr Dunn thanked members of the committee who were leaving for all they had done, and spoke highly of the work of the retiring chairman.
A vote of thanks to Coun. Rowson proposed by Mr. C. Fox and seconded by Mr. B. Chambers, was placed on record.
