Clifford Family
Mr. and Mrs. William Clifford, of 6, Hartley Street. Mexboro. Have three sons and a son-in-law serving. Three of them or at present in hospital.
Bombardier Albert Clifford (Royal Field Artillery) (top left)
Bombardier Albert Clifford who enlisted in May, 1915, was, wounded on Oct. 16. 1917. with gunshot in the leg and he also lost three fingers of one hand and one from the left. He was wounded at Passchendaele.
He was formerly- employed at Manvers Main.
Private William Clifford (Connaught Rangers) (bottom right)
Private Wm. Clifford who enlisted in Sept.. 1914, it is now in hospital in Mesopotamia with fever. He is aged 21, and has seen three years’ service in France and the East without a leave.
He also was formerly employed at Manvers Main.
Lance Corporal Clement Clifford (Royal Irish Regiment), (bottom left)
Lance Corporal Clement Clifford who enlisted in April, 1915, was wounded in the knee in France last year, and is now serving in Ireland. He too, was previously employed at Manvers Main.
Private John Hobson (K.O.Y.L.I.) (top right)
The son-in-law, Pte. John Hobson enlisted in October 1914, and has had over two years’ active service in France, and is now in hospital in Colchester, sick.
Before enlistment he was employed at the Frickley Colliery. Mr. Clifford’s brother, Private. Tom Clifford, is serving in France with the York and Lancaster.
