New Matron
Takes Over At Montagu Hospital
Miss M W Henderson
Miss M. W. Henderson, who has succeeded Miss C. Wesley as Matron of the Montagu Hospital, Mexborough, arrived in Mexborough last week-end and commenced her new duties at the Hospital on Monday.
Miss Henderson, who was chosen by the Hospital Board out of a large number of candidates for the post, comes from Keighley, where she was Assistant Matron at the Keighley and District Voluntary Hospital, and institution with a staff of 70 and bed accommodation of 124.
Commencing her training at Bury Infirmary (Lancs.) in 1920, Miss Henderson three and a half years later moved to the Queen Charlotte’ Maternity Hospital in London. Here she gained Hospital and Central Midwives Board Certificates in 1924, and also eighteen months as Night Sister.
Later Miss Henderson took up a post as Ward Theatre Sister at the Hospital for Sick Children at Newcastle from 1926 to 1928, and from 1928 to 1928 she was Sister of the Male Surgical Wards at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, while later she obtained training in housekeeping at University College, London, where she also did holiday duty as housekeeper. Her next appointment was at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester, where she served for two years as Sister Housekeeper, leaving in 1935 to take up the post she has just vacated at Keighley.
Miss Henderson’s wide and varied experience should enable her to give specially valuable service at the Montagu Hospital, and subscribers and residents of the district generally will. join us in offering to her a warm welcome, with the hope that she will be happy and successful in her new sphere.
