Sergeant Samuel Trethewey

Sergeant Tretheway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Tretheway. 11 Woodfield Avenue, Mexhoro died of wound- in France on Oct. 10.

He was 23 years of age, single and before enlistment in Oct., 1914, worked as a miner at Manvers Main.

He went to the Front in 1915 but was invalided home with hernia, and later served temporarily on the staff of the Mexborough Recruiting Office during the crisis of the Derby campaign. He again went to the Front and was severely wounded in September 1916.

His parents have received a letter from him, dated October 4 in which he stated that be expected to come home immediately to go into cadet training, having accepted the offer of a commission.

One of his brothers, Pte. Arthur Trethewey (A.O.C.) is Serving in France, and the other Seaman Walter Trethawey, R.N., is with the Fleet,
