Lance Corporal Albert William Jackson

Lance Corporal Jackson, son of Mr and Mrs Albert Jackson, 25, Pitt Street Mexborough died on Oct. 21 of wounds received  in action on Oct. 19, in France.

He was 26 years of age, and the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. He married, in April 15 to Miss Emily Worth, of Hampden road, Mexborough.  

He enlisted in September, 1914, and before that was a, member of the clerical staff of the Denabyand Cadeby, Collieries, Ltd. He had been serving in France two years and seven months when he was mortally wounded. He died in a casualty clearing station in France.

He only returned to France six weeks ago from leave.

The family have received kindly messages of sympathy, from the sister in charge of the casualty clearing station, the Church of England chaplain, the Wesleyan Chaplain (who buried him), the Sgt, and a comrade.

Before enlistment, Lance Corporal Jackson was prominently identified with the Wesleyan Reform Church, Oxford road, Mexborough.
