Gunner CH Clarke, of 30 West St, Mexborough was wounded on July 9 in the upper arm and shoulder.

The matron of the 54th general hospital, France, in a letter to his father-in-law, Mr G Day at the above address, says he’s going on well.

He had since been transferred to Wharncliffe war hospital, Sheffield.

He is married, and prior to enlistment worked with Mr RJ Booker of Swinton.
