Soldier Missing in Burma 5 Years Ago – Now Confirmed Dead

Mr Mrs J Watson, of 89 Windmill Crescent, Mexborough have received information this week that their son private James Watson, who was reported missing five years ago, is presumed killed in action on April 14, in Burma.

Private Watson joined up in 1939 went abroad with a battalion of the K.O.Y.L.I. in 1939.

He joined the Commando force in 1941.

An old scholar of Schofield Street School, he worked at Manvers Main Colliery before joining the forces.
