Company Sergeant Major Arthur Richard Hammond (A.S.C., M.T.)

9 Don Cottages, Mexborough has been awarded the DCM for gallantry during May.

Company Sergeant Major Hammond is an old soldier, joining the Rifle Brigade in 1887, and saw much service during his period with the Colours.

Prior to the war he was employed at the British Westfalite works, but enlisted in November 1914.

He has been in France continuously for two years except for a short leave last October.
