The death has occurred at her home of Mrs Edna Irene Pashley (51), of 31 Wellington St, Mexborough.

Mrs Pashley was well-known in Mexborough for her work with choral and operatic societies, music being a very great interest in her life. She was associated with the South Yorkshire musical comedy society for over 40 years took a keen interest in Mexborough Choral Union.

She did a great deal of competitive work in the locality.

The eldest daughter of Mr JR Pilling, who was with the South Yorkshire Times printing company for 42 years, she had two children, only one who is alive.

Mexborough born Mrs Pashley had lived in Wellington Street most of her life, except for a short spell when she lived in Sheffield.

The funeral took place on Saturday at Mexborough Cemetery.
