Mrs Fred Jackson at 30 Lower Dolcliffe Road, has been represented in the army by two sons and three stepsons.
The stepsons are private AH Jackson, Private A Jackson and Private Fred Jackson.
Private A.H. Jackson, who is 24 years of age, enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers shortly after the outbreak of war. He was wounded on May 21, 1915 and again in July 1, 1960. He was discharged in September 1916 and has since resumed his work at Manvers Main.
Private A Jackson (Royal Welsh Fusiliers), the only married man of the five, has been serving two years, 16 months of which have been spent (without leave) in France. He has come uninjured through some very severe fighting. He is 26 years of age.
Private Fred Jackson (Royal Marine Fusiliers) was a reservist and was mobilised at the outbreak of war. He was taken prisoner at Mons, and has been in the hands of the Germans ever since. He is single, aged 35, and formerly worked as a miner at Denaby Main.
Mrs Jackson sons are Private Fred Ward and Private R Wood, both of the York and Lancaster.
Private R Wood, was 22 years of age and formerly worked at Cadeby Main, served in the army two years, and was killed in action on January 7, 1917.
Private Fred Ward has only recently joined the Army, and is in training in the North. He is single, aged 19
