Mr A Shaw Takes Over

Mr Arnold Shaw was appointed chairman of Mexborough Urban Council at the annual meeting on Monday.

Mr JH White, an independent member was appointed vice-chairman.

Mr Shaw, a member of the Labour Party and L.N.E. railway fireman by trade, is an enthusiastic playing member of the Mexborough and Goldthorpe Operatic Societies, and a Methodist (P.M.) local preacher. His father (Mr J.T.Shaw) is a member of Wath Urban Council.
