Three Mexborough Brothers
All Out Of Action

These are three sons of the late Mr and Mrs John James of 39, Frederick Street, Mexborough.

The eldest Private George William James (Royal Irish rifles) of 34 Wesley St Moorthorpe, has just completed 16 years service. He was mobilised at the outbreak of war, and is now in India recovering from malaria. He is a married man, with three children and is 37 years of age.

Private Herbert James (K.O.Y.L.I.) of 59 Main St, Mexborough is aged 28, married with two children. He enlisted in October 1915 and went to France in December 1916. He was wounded on May 10 the right shoulder and arm and is in hospital in France. Before enlistment he was a miner employed at Manvers Main.

Private Harry James (K.O.Y.L.I.) of 30 Frederick St, Mexborough is single and 21 years of age.

He enlisted in August 1915 and went to France in August 1916. He was wounded on July 1, 1916 and again on May 3, 1917 and has since had his left leg amputated. He is now in hospital at St Mary’s College Chelsea.
