Who was recently promoted to that rank, has been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, following the receipt of the following certificate of gallantry from his divisional commander:

“Your Commanding Officer and Brigade Commander have informed me that you distinguish yourself in the field on April 9, 1917.
I congratulate you on your fine work.”

Company sergeant major Gill is a son of Mr and Mrs John Gail of 4 Woodfield Ave, Mexborough, and is a reservist of the K.O.Y.L.I.

He has been in France some months now, and was previously employed in training recruits.

He has three brothers in the army:

one of them, Arthur has been in France many months with the Royal Engineers and has been promoted Corporal recently;
another, Bert, has just gone to the front.
A third, Harold is in training, but is not yet old enough for active service
