Driver M Minchin (Royal Engineers), son of Mr and Mrs Minchin, 33, Pym Road Mexborough, is in hospital in Portsmouth, suffering from septic poisoning in the hand.

He crossed from France in the hospital ship Gloucester Castle, which was torpedoed by a German submarine. He was picked up by a destroyer and taken to Portsmouth.

He single and 23 years of age.

Before enlistment he worked at Denaby Main.

He joined the Army in October 1915 as served in France since November 1916.
