Bricklayer – Sanitary Inspector

Sgt William Percival Wright, of the R.A.M.C., sanitary section of Pitt St, Mexborough, who was formerly employed by Mr H Cliffe, builder of Mexborough as a bricklayer, has been appointed sergeant instructor.

He came to Mexborough in 1909 and while following his trade he studied building construction under Mr T Bull, surveyor to the Thurnscoe Urban Council and took a first class certificate.

He also took the certificate of the Royal Sanitary Institute, which qualified him to act as a sanitary inspector.

At the time of enlistment he was foreman in charge of the extensions to the Mexborough Disposal Works.
