Women’s Section of Labour Party Presentation

During the Christmas party given to the children by the women section of the local Labour Party in the Dolcliffe Road school on Tuesday a case of cutlery from the members of the women section was presented to the energetic secretary Mrs TW Whipp in recognition of the service she has rendered during the past five years.

Making the presentation, Mr Tom Williams, MP, said what a joy it was to him to visit the Women’s Section of the Mexborough Labour Party, especially at the time of the Christmas treat.

Referring to the gift, Mr Milne said it was an emblem of the feeling that there was for Mrs Whipp throughout the district. Through the efforts of Mrs Whipp and others like her, they have more or less solved the problem of perpetual motion.

He expressed his personal sanction Mrs Whipp, for her untiring work for the party and to a colleagues, for recognising durability and efficiency.

“Long may the Women’s Section flourish, and may you speed onto still greater success.”

Mrs Whipp in response, thanked everyone for their kindness. The knowledge that the Women Section appreciated her efforts fully repaid her for what she had done. She hoped that she would be spared a long time to work for the Section, and, when general elections came along, to help to raise Mr Tom Williams majority. Mrs Carbert (president of the Women’s Section) thanked Mr Williams for making the presentation.
