Signaller George Neath
(K.O.Y.L.I.)
was wounded on August 2, and is now in hospital in Sheffield.
Previous to enlistment was employed at Bullcroft Colliery. Writing home he says:
“eight of us were taking a cart with signalling apparatus, which we were pulling along. I was in the shaft and Fritz sent us a souvenir in the form of a shell. Two others were wounded, I myself receiving several wounds in the thighs. We were lucky and I hope soon to be all right again.”
Signaller Neath is a son of the coal merchant of Mexborough and is connected with the Oxford Road, Wesleyan Reform Church.
