The building of the new Mexboro’ Wesleyan Chapel is progressing very rapidly. A flag hoisted indicates that the roof has been raised. The old building is for sale.

Mr. John Shaw, a well-known Mexboro’ resident, entered the lion’s den in a menagerie at Mexboro’ fair, on Wednesday night. Miss Hanby also entered, and shook hands with a lion.

On Wednesday night next, at Conisboro’ Church, the sermon will be preached by the Rev. F. S. F. Jannings, Rector of Wathworth. An organ recital will follow the service.

According to a statement made at the last Urban Council meeting, the Mexboro’ electric light account for last year’s working shows a loss of £100. No allowance has been made for depreciation of rates. The loss for the previous ten months was about £100.

The attendances at the cricket matches and sports during the Feast continue a record.

The political meeting in the Market Hall, at Mexboro’, last Friday, was the most enthusiastic held in Mexboro’ for many years.

At the adjourned meeting of the Coal Conciliation Board, on Wednesday, the question of a basis between selling prices and wages was further considered, but no decision was arrived at.

The Rev. A. C. Carlile, of Mexboro’, who is now at Cornwall, is convalescent.

The contractors for the new Dearne Valley Railway are making a big hole in the cliff at Cadeby.

It is two years next Sunday since the miners at Denaby came out on strike. Some of the old hands are still seeking employment, although they are now a limited number.

Many head schoolmasters in the neighbourhood are very indignant at the action of the County Council in reducing their salaries.

The youngest son of Mr. W. H. J. Mills, more familiarly known as “Jimmy,” fell whilst cycling near Doncaster, on Wednesday, and died the same day.

Mr. Willie especially (the obliging secretary) and also the committeemen of the Mexboro’ Sports are to be congratulated upon the complete success of their efforts last Monday.

The consideration of the Doncaster Corporation Bill was begun on Tuesday, by a Select Committee of the House of Lords. The Committee decided to strike out the clauses which would give the Corporation power to supply water, gas, and electricity in outside areas.
