Drunk & Disorderly
John Holland, collier, Denaby, was summoned for being drunk and disorderly on the 18th inst. P.C. Harrington said at 10.30 p.m. he found the defendant very drunk at Warmsworth, and creating a disturbance. Witness had previously seen the defendant and he was drunk then. P.C. Truman gave corroborative evidence. Defendant said he had been at a supper and had had a glass or two of beer, but was not disorderly. A fine of 5s. and 19s. 6d. costs was imposed.
Benjamin Smith, collier, Denaby, was charged with a similar offence in Doncaster-road, Mexboro’, on the 20th inst. Defendant pleaded guilty, and a penalty of 5s. and 17s. 6d. costs was imposed.
John Ward, collier, Mexboro’, was charged with a similar offence. P.C. Webber said on the 27th inst. he was in Wath-road and there found the defendant very drunk, cursing and swearing. He had to threaten to lock the man up before he would go. Thomas Wilson gave similar evidence. Defendant did not appear and a fine of 10s. and 17s. 6d. costs was inflicted.
