Assaults.

At the West Riding Police Court, on Saturday, Edward Lamplough, farmer, of Highfields, was fined 1s. and costs for assaulting Frank Aldam, of Adwick-le-Street. On the 18th ult. the parties were measuring a turnip field at Bentley, and during some words complainant alleged that the defendant struck him.

Maria Sapey was fined 1s. and costs for assaulting Violet Atkin. The parties are girls living at Mexborough. On Sunday, Sapey was passing Atkin’s house, and some water which the latter was throwing into the street went upon her. Sapey thinking it was done purposely, threw a stone at the complainant.

Joseph Thompson, of Conisborough, fishmonger, was fined £2 13s., including costs, for assaulting Charles Dickinson, of Conisborough. Defendant, suspecting the complainant had been “spilling on him” with regard to a poaching affair, meeting him on the 25th ult., commenced to quarrel with him, and eventually struck the complainant.
