Lance Corporal H.S. Fruin
(York & Lancs)
of 11 Don View, was killed by a trench bomb on July 21st. He was only 20 years of age and a very promising young fellow.
He enlisted in November 1914 and before going to France, about a month ago, had served in Gallipoli and Egypt.
He has a brother in the Royal Marines.
His Lieut Colonel writing to his parents says:
“He died at once and did not suffer, and was buried by a chaplain. I personally and his company are very sorry that he has gone, and as his commanding officer I symathise with you and your family in your loss.”
