Died Of Wounds

Pte. Harry Chappell (31), of the Coldstream Guards, died on Easter Monday from wounds sustained in the Middle East, where he had been serving since last October.

This news was received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Chappell, of 6, Woodfield Avenue, Mexborough, last Friday.

Pte. Chappell, who is their fourth son, joined up nearly three years ago, before which he was employed by his father, a well-known newsagent with a shop in Albert Road. He was an old boy of Adwick Road School.

Three other members of the family are serving, Gunner Percy Chappell (28), in the Royal Artillery, Pte. Reginald Chappell (26) in the West Yorkshire Regiment, and A.C.W. Olive Chappell (19), in the W.A.A.F.

Harry was a member of the Central Methodist Church and was for some time secretary of the tennis section of Mexborough Athletic Club.
