“Mexboro’ Hill Climb Record”
The Mexboro’ club’s annual hill climb postponed from the previous week-end was held on Sunday morning ovr the usual course, starting at the bottom of Hartley Street and leading up the steep 1 in 5 gradient past the Education Offices, round the hairpin bend on to Park road to the Park hotel.
In spite of the early hour there was a fair croud of onlookers in additions to the competitors.
The event was won by Jack Bisby (picture) , who returned the splendid time of 1min. 15 2-5sec., thereby establishing a record that will not readily be beaten.
Frank Goodman, who was the second also returned a good time, covering the course in 1min. 17 3-10 secs., and third and fourth places were taken by E. Browning (1min. 18 3.5secs.) and H. Coupe (1min. 20 4-5secs. ).
Subsequently the club enjoyed a run to Newark, lunch being taken at Ollerton. Meet West Street 10 a.m. for next Sunday’s run.
