Golden Wedding

A Mexborough couple who were married at Mexborough Parish church on September 3rd 1894, 50 years ago, will celebrate their Golden Wedding on Sunday.

They are  Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Jow, who have lived in the same house, 4, Charles Street, ever since their wedding.

Mr. Jow, who is 74, is a native of Mexborough Mrs. Jow comes from Whittington Moor, Chesterfield.  She was born in 1876 and will be 68 in November.

The couple went to church from a house in Sarah Street, Mexborough, and returned to their present home, from which they have never moved.  Mr. Jow worked a Manvers Main Colliery for over 40 years but is now retired on pension.

They have had eight children, six of whom are living, and have 17 grandchildren and five great-grand-children. They are to celebrate the anniversary at home.
