In Command of Minesweeper
Mexborough Secondary School Master
Lieut. Frank A. G. Langley R.N.V.R., a member of the staff of Mexborough Secondary School until he joined the Navy in 1941, has been appointed in command of a minesweeper. He has served throughout in minesweepers, first as a signaller and then as an officer. He received his commission in January 1942.
Lieut. Langley carried on a Naval tradition when he joined up three years after coming to Mexborough Secondary School as English master from the Northern Boys Secondary School, Portsmouth. He is a native of Portsmouth.
His father, Chief Engine Room Artificer A. M. Langley, rejoined shortly after the outbreak of war, having retired 12 years before after 22 years’ service. Lieut. Langley was engaged in the North Africa and Sicily landings.
His wife and baby daughter live at 14, Princess Road, Mexborough.
