L/Cpl. J. Howson

Mrs. Howson of Castle Hill, Barnburgh, has received news from the War Office that her husband L/Cpl. J. Howson (28) has died of wounds while serving in Italy with the York and Lancaster Regiment.

L/Cpl. Howson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Howson of 28, Windhill Terrace, Mexborough.  He joined up nearly two years ago but was sent back for a period of service with the N.F.S. and went to the Middle East last summer.

He was a part-time member of the N.F.S. when at Messrs. Baker and Bessemer’s, Kilnhurst, where he was formerly employed.  L/Cpl. Howson was a keen cricketer and played for Barnburgh C.C.
