C.W. Sutton
Well-Known Mexborough Farmer
The funeral took place on Sunday of Mr. Charles William Sutton (66), a well-known local farmer, of 71, Harlington Road, Mexborough, and lately of Manor Farm, whose death was reported in our last issue. The coffin was borne on a dray drawn by one of the farm horses.
Mr. Sutton had purchased himself just before his retirement in the Spring of last year and his dog “Barney” , loyal companion of his working and leisure hours, also followed with the mourners.
A service in Mexborough Parish Church, conducted by the vicar, the Rev. E. H. P. Rawlins, was attended by many friends and sympathisers in addition to the relatives. The interment took place at Mexborough cemetery, where the vicar also officiated.
