Cricketer Weds Nurse
The marriage took place at Swinton parish Church, of Miss Naide Patricia Pocklington, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pocklington of “Rheola,” Queen Street, Swinton, to Mr. Stewart Brown youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. W. H. Brown, of 16, Frederick Street. Mexborough,
The bride, given away by her father, wore a white brocade satin gown with a long veil and coronet
She carried pink roses and lilies of the valley, and was attended by Misses Jean Picklington, Gillian’ Nunn and Margaret Bullock.
The elder bridesmaid wore a blue printed nylon dress with white accessories and carried pink carnations, and the younger maids wore pink nylon dresses with pink bead-dresses and carried posies of carnations and roses.
The best man was Mr. Derrick Hibberd, and groomsman was Mr. George Cooper.
The bride’s mother wore a clover pink two-piece with beige accessories and the bridegroom’s mother a blue two-piece with white accessories
A reception was held at the Station Hotel, Swinton.
The bride travelled in a pale blue Trical dress with a blue Jersey wool coat and beige accessories for her honeymoon in London.
The bridegroom is vice-captain of the second eleven team of Adwick Cricket Club and the bride is a nurse at Moorgate Hospital, from whose colleagues and patients she received cutlery,
