Pleasant Surprise
Dvr George Ford went out to France with the B.E.F. early in January. His parents had never seen him since then till he walked into his home at 30 Chapel Street, Wath Road, Mexborough, not looking very much the worse for his experiences through Dunkirk. He had had his 21st birthday in France and got letters quite regularly. He always looked forward to his copy of the “South Yorkshire Times” which was sent to him each week. Dvr. Ford says he has no praise too high for the Royal Navy and Air Force in getting them home. During his 48 hours leave he visited Roman Terrace School, where he was educated.
