200 Dancers at Mexborough

200 Dancers at The Empress Ballroom, Mexborough, was lavishly decorated with flowers and bunting on Tuesday when Mexborough Urban Council held their Coronation dance in aid of the town’s old age pensioners and the Flood disaster Fund. Flowers from Wentworth Nurseries were tastefully arranged at the entrance and adorned with gaily coloured bunting. Two huge golden crowns gave the appropriate touch of Coronation atmosphere.

About 200 people enjoyed four hours dancing to the music of Ernest Lodge’s Empress Players. M.C. was M. J. Shillito assisted by P. H. Cook. A huge basket of fruit went to Chief Inspector H. Verity and bottle of whisky was won by Ms. D. Brown.
