A Costly Boot

A Mexborough man, named Owen Egan, was on Wednesday at Doncaster, fined 15 shillings for stealing a boot belonging a pair held at 4/11 from the shop of the Cash Boot Company.

On the previous day went into the shop and tried on a pair of boots which he bought. As he was leaving the shop, the manager noticed his coat was rather bulky, and the police were informed.

When arrested, he said he had just drawn a pension, got drunk, and stole the boot in a drunken freak.
