Marred at Hickleton
Both the bride and her bridesmaids made their own dresses for a wedding. at Hickleton.
Old students of Mexborough Grammar School, Miss Julia Damon, of Hickleton, and Mr. Peter Nicholson, B.Sc., A.R.C.S., of Middlesex, were married at St. Wifrid’s Church.
Miss Darman, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Reginald Darmon, The Forge, and Mr. Nicholson, of 52, Stafford Gate, Potters Bar, are both teachers. They will live in London.
Given away by her father, the bride wore a short length gown of white pure silk paper taffeta, with a skirt decorated with inset lace band pintucks. She had a short bouffant veil and small circular coronet and she carried pink roses.
She was attended by her sister, Miss Jennifer M. Darmon, who wore a short length dress, matching the bride’s in style, of blue and white Italian rucked nylon, with a blue Alice band. She carried a Victorian posy of mixed roses.
Best man was Mr. Leslie Massey, B.Sc., A.R.C.S., a fellow student of the bridegroom at Imperial College, London, and a former Head Boy at Mexborough Grammar School
The groomsman was Mr. Michael Webster (bride’s cousin).
The bride’s mother wore a fitted grey and white figured dress with orchid pink accessories, and the bridegroom’s mother wore a coffee-beige and white two-piece with matching accessories.
A reception was held at the Village Hall, Hickleton, and the honeymoon was spent at Brockenhurst.
