Easy Win For Mexboro’

White’s Part In Defeat Of Rawmarsh

Mexborough 66 for 2  Rawmarsh  65

Mexboro’ managed to make a start on Saturday after two cancelled matches and had no difficulty in beating Rawmarsh by 8 wickets. White bowled finally throughout the Rawmarsh innings which lasted about two hours but only realised 65 runs. The Rawmarsh batsmen never played him with confidence and although a couple of sixes were knocked off his bowling, he returned the excellent average of 7 for 17. Iggo, Chadwick and Ambler each took a wicket, and Mexboro’ appeared to have a stronger attack as their disposal though the Rawmarsh opposition was by no means formidable. Broadhead made a very fine catch to get rid of Wadsworth running about 40 yds. To take the ball in a difficult position. Mexboro’ made light of their task and Broadhead forced the pace to be caught by Blagborough, who held a fierce drive when the Mexboro; captain had scored 22. Tom Ambler had scored 22 not out, when Mexboro’ passed the Rawmarsh total for the loss of a couple of wickets, having been batting barely 40 minutes.
