Lincoln Player Gets Four Goals Against Mexborough.
Mexborough put a spirited struggle against Lincoln City Reserves, in a Midland League match, at Lincoln, last night, and deserved a better fate than to lose 5—3.
Although Atkinson scored first for Lincoln, Mexborough, playing fast and taking full advantage of the wind at their backs, were leading 3—1 at the interval, Fleetwood and Moxon (two) having scored.
Subsequently, Lincoln improved, and after Atkinson had scored three more goals in succession, Keetley came along with the best goal of the match —a shot from 15 yards range, which had Best well beaten.
Mexborough were best served in attack, where Moxon and Fleetwood were frequently dangerous.
Denaby United 2 Boston United 2
A lifeless first half with pulsating halfhour to finish, sums up last night’s game at Denaby, where the United and Boston drew 2—2.
Two goals came Boston’s way in the first half. O’Donnell and Mitchell scoring.
Two centre-forwards had been tried Denaby without success and after 17 minutes of the second half. Taylor went from left back to centre-forward. This move, which delighted the crowd, gave life to the attack, and one minute later Wraith scored. Two minutes later Black equalised.
From that point to the end. the game was interesting, and both goalkeepers made several good saves.
