Mexborough Win Without Being Extended.
Mexborough Athletic 1 Mansfield Town Reserves 0
Mexborough gained full points yesterday, but did not play nearly so well as they have done recently when losing, but the opposition provided by Mansfield Town Reserves was such as to always leave them plenty in hand.
The Mansfield forward play was particularly weak. Fitzgerald scored the only goal for Mexborough in the first half.
Mexborough made four changes, bringing three newcomers into the forward line, which was unbalanced, with only Renton and Coleman, the two wingmen, at all dangerous. Behind, the halves and backs were not unduly extended.
The man of the match was Wilson, the visitors’ goalkeeper.
The attendance numbered about 1,000.
