The Mexborough Centenarian.

Yesterday Mrs. Kilham, of Mexborough, attained her 103rd year, and was the recipient of many congratulations.

Although during the recent severe weather she has been confined to her room, the old lady is very hearty and vigorous considering her years, and by all appearances has still a long lease of life before her. Her memory event, of seventy and eighty years ago is remarkably clear, and she converses quite intelligently of that remote time, speaking of the reign of the Georges with great familiarity.

She knew Mexborough when it only possessed a few whitewashed cottages, and traces with evident interest the progress and enlargement of the district.

Her family is a Lincolnshire one, and according to her statement, is descended from a noble Dutch ancestry.

Some years ago the Rev. H. G. Lemoine, a former curate of Mexborough, journeyed to Mrs. Kilham’s native place, and verified her exact age from the parish register.
