A “Labour” Victory at Mexborough Grammar School mock election saw “Socialist” candidate, June Mellor, poll a 42 vote majority over “Conservative” candidate, Peter Brindley. Jacqueline Vaughan (“Ind. Labour”) polled only 21 votes, and forfeited her shilling deposit.
